Are you a patient, helpful and supportive person? Do you have a warm personality and enjoy giving a helping hand to anyone who needs it? Do you enjoy world wide travel, sometimes at short notice, and do you have the time to commit to overseas trips of up to 10 days duration? If this sounds like you then this opportunity is definitely for you!
We are looking for someone who gets on well with others, someone who is sensitive, and who can confidently travel to various parts of the world. You will need to be organised in order to manage travel itineraries, and you will need a good sense of humour to cope with those inevitable travel delays!
You will be volunteering on an ad hoc basis to support RNIB staff that need to travel overseas to represent RNIB at conferences and events. You will act as a sighted guide, making sure that blind and partially sighted people have the support they need to travel to and participate in events overseas. In addition to guiding, you will need to be able to complete essential travel documents such as customs declaration forms, and provide general assistance during the trip, such as reading menus, hotel information, etc.
It is highly likely that you will have plenty of time to sight see while your colleague is working hard in meetings, and you will not be expected to support people every hour of the day. You will not be expected to guide more than one person, so there will be plenty of opportunity to get to know them during the trip.
An enhanced CRB check will be required for this role.
